Crankcase Ventilation - Modification: Overview

Group: 25

No.: 29

Date:
May, 1982

Subject:
Crankcase Ventilation System
Turbo Vehicles

THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO THE U.S. AND CANADIAN MARKETS

If difficulty during starting or intermittent stalling is experienced on the above model, the cause may be incorrect fitting of the crankcase ventilation hose between the inlet manifold and oil trap.

The subject hose, if not fitted correctly, may have a sharp bend at the inlet manifold end, which may cause high pressure in the crank case, and block the return oil outlet from the turbo charger. This can result in oil leakage between the turbo shaft seals.

Check that the ventilation hose at the oil trap end is not bent too sharply and is correctly positioned at the cold start injector and bracket for the fuel pipe.
