Some 1982 1.8L L4 engines may incur cracked exhaust manifolds when subjected to high temperature and high load conditions. A new exhaust manifold assembly has been released under the old part number. Early design parts are no longer in stock.
Replacement of the exhaust manifold assembly requires a change in the outer bolt torque specification (#1 and #4 runners). These bolts should be torqued to 15-20 N-m (11-15 lbs.ft.).
